How to Make Cocoa Pebble Treats
Step 1: Prepare Your Pan: Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Melt the Ingredients: In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Then add the marshmallows, chocolate chips, and peanut butter to the melted butter and heat over low heat, stirring until smooth.
Step 3: Mix in the Cereal: Pour the cereal into the marshmallow mixture and gently stir with a buttered spatula or wooden spoon (to keep the mixture from sticking) until they're evenly coated
Step 4: Spread the cereal mixture into the prepared pan and press it evenly all around.
Make the drizzle: melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter chips together in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds and stir until completely melted. Heat for an additional 15 seconds if needed but be careful not to overheat or it can seize and become too thick to drizzle.
Tips
- You can use a piece of wax paper or aluminum foil to press them in the pan or you can also butter your fingertips if you'd like
- Do not press the bars down too firmly or they will become hard.
- Cool the treats completely before storing so they don't become soggy.
- Melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter for the drizzle in a double boiler if you don't wan to use the microwave method.
- For thicker bars, pour the mixture into a square pan instead of the rectangle dish that gives you a slightly thinner bar.
Storage instructions
Room Temperature: After they have cooled completely, store the cereal bars in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper between them to keep them from sticking together.
Freezing: Freeze in a bag for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature or enjoy them cold right out of the freezer!
