- active dry yeast - the base for a fluffy, risen dough
- all-purpose flour - forms the structure of the rolls
- salt - balances the sweetness
- melted butter - adds richness and flavor
- eggs - help bind the dough and add softness
For the filling:
- diced strawberries - fresh and juicy, these bring the fruit-forward flavor
- strawberry jam - adds moisture and intensifies the strawberry flavor
- cinnamon - provides warmth and classic cinnamon roll spice
For the frosting:
- cream cheese - creates a rich, creamy base
- powdered sugar - sweetens and thickens the frosting
- strawberry jam - ties the frosting back to the filling for extra flavor
- heavy cream - thins the frosting to a spreadable consistency
Substitutions
- Frozen strawberries can be used if fresh aren't available-just thaw and drain first
- Raspberry or mixed berry jam can work if strawberry jam is unavailable
- Use whole milk or 2% in place of the milk in the dough
- For a simpler option, a basic powdered sugar glaze can be used instead of cream cheese frosting
How to make our strawberry cinnamon rolls:

Make the dough:
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy to ensure the yeast is active.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, add 2 cups of flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Mix until it begins forming a dough.
- Add in the melted butter, eggs, and one more cup of flour. Continue mixing.
- Add the milk and remaining flour, and continue mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a soft ball.

- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- After rising, place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill.
Make the filling
- While the dough chills, stir together the diced strawberries and strawberry jam to make the filling.
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

- On a floured surface, roll the chilled dough into a 15x18-inch rectangle.
- Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon.

- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough into a log. Place the seam side down.
- Trim the ends, then slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Arrange the rolls in the prepared pan, cover lightly, and let rise for 40 minutes in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Bake the rolls for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool for 20 minutes before frosting.

Make the frosting
- To make the frosting, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and strawberry jam. Add heavy cream a teaspoon at a time to reach desired consistency.

- Spread the frosting over the cooled rolls and serve.

Storage Tips
- Store rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days
- Refrigerate for up to 5 days; reheat gently before serving
- Freeze unfrosted rolls for up to 2 months. Thaw and frost before serving
How to reheat these cinnamon rolls
To reheat, warm individual rolls in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds or place in a low oven (around 300°F) for 5-10 minutes until heated through
Frequently asked questions, answers and tips:
Yes, the rolls can be prepared up to the point of the second rise. Cover and refrigerate overnight, then let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.
Yes, the dough can be mixed by hand or with a hand mixer, though a stand mixer makes the process easier and faster.
Yes, jelly can be used instead of jam, but the filling will be smoother and may be slightly thinner. For a thicker texture, consider mixing in a bit of cornstarch or some chopped strawberries.
Tips
- Water should be between 105-115 for the yeast
- Finely dicing the strawberries makes it easier to roll the rolls up. If you prefer bigger chunks you can cut them into larger pieces but rolling will be challenging.
- They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for up to 7 days. Keep an eye on the rising times-the dough should double in size during each rise
- Lightly flour the rolling surface to prevent sticking, but avoid over-flouring
- Use a very sharp knife or unflavored dental floss to slice the rolls cleanly
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing the frosting for a smooth finish

Strawberry Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
For the Dough-
- 4 Cups Flour plus more for rolling
- ½ Cup Sugar
- ¼ Cup Warm Water
- 2 ¼ teaspoon Yeast one packet
- 6 tablespoon Butter melted
- 1 Cup Milk warm
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Salt
For the Filling
- 1 Cup Strawberry Jam
- 1 Cup Finely Diced Strawberries
- 1-2 teaspoon Cinnamon
For the Frosting
- 4 oz Cream Cheese softened
- 2 tablespoon Strawberry Jam
- ⅓ Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1-2 tablespoon Heavy Cream
Instructions
- In a small bowl mix warm water, 1 tablespoon of sugar and yeast stir and set aside for 10 minutes or until foamy. This tests that the yeast is good.
- Next in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook add in 2 cups of flour, salt and the yeast mixture. Mix until it starts to form a dough.
- Add in the melted butter and eggs, and one more cup of the flour. Continue mixing.
- Next add in the milk and remaining flour. Allow to mix until the dough comes together completely and pulls away from the sides forming a ball in the bottom of the bowl.
- Transfer the dough to a large bowl that has been oiled or sprayed with cooking spray. Cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Place in a warm area to rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- Once doubled place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- While the dough is chilling mix together the diced strawberries and strawberry jam to make the filling.
- Lightly grease a 13x9 inch baking pan.
- Remove the dough from the refrigerator and lightly flour your working surface. You will be slicing on this surface so I recommend using a cutting board or mat.
- Gently roll the dough into a rectangle about 15x18 inches. Make sure your dough is not sticking as you roll.
- Spread the strawberry mixture across the top of the dough and then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon.
- Starting from the top (it should be the longer side) gently roll the dough toward you to create a log shape. Once the dough is rolled completely up the seam side should be down.
- Next using a very sharp knife slice about ½ inch off of each end. Now cut the log in half, then each half into thirds , and then each of those thirds in half. This should create 12 equal size pieces.
- Place the pieces in your prepared pan. Lightly cover and set in a warm place to rise for 40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375.
- Place the risen rolls in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes.
- While they are cooling mix together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar and strawberry jam in a medium bowl with an electric mixer. To thin the frosting add heavy cream a teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Spread the frosting across the cooled rolls and serve!
