If you don't have or can't find Sichuan peppercorns you can substitute them with black pepper and coriander seeds
How to Make This Asian Green Bean Recipe
This easy recipe only needs a few steps to make the perfect green beans.
Step One: Prepare Green Beans
- Clean and trim the green beans.
- Heat a large skillet over high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the beans and stir fry them over high heat until the beans are a little charred (2-3 minutes).
- Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step Two: Prepare Seasonings
- The next step is to prepare the spices. In the same pan add 1 tablespoon of oil. Heat oil and add dried red chilies and Sichuan peppercorns followed by minced ginger and garlic, and fry for 30 seconds until fragrant. Keep a close eye on the pan as these ingredients can quickly burn if not careful.
Step Three: Add Beans and Cook
- Add beans along with light soy sauce, rice wine, salt, black pepper powder, sugar, and chili oil.
- Stir fry for 1 minute. Use tongs to toss the beans with the other ingredients.
